Thursday pickup moves to Friday
Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, is a delay holiday. The city's 2026 PDF says a Thursday pickup moves to Friday, Nov. 27.
A holiday on a scheduled service day delays service by one day. Wednesday holidays are exempt and Saturday holidays cause no delay. The 2026 list includes Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The PDF refers to trash pickup generally and does not break out recycling, yard waste or bulky items. It notes Athens Disposal customers should check with the city for the exact shift.
