No trash pickup on City holidays; recycling delayed one day
The city lists Nov. 25 to 27 as 2026 observed holidays. It has not posted a 2026 notice saying which days trash runs that week. For recycling, CVWMA lists Thursday, Nov. 26 as delayed until the next day, with Friday collections on Saturday. Last year's city notice said Thursday's trash route ran Friday.
The city's trash page says there is no pickup on City holidays and collection resumes the day after the holiday and continues through Friday. The city's 2026 observed holidays include Wednesday, Nov. 25 through Friday, Nov. 27 and Thursday, Dec. 24 and Friday, Dec. 25.
The city collects residential trash Monday through Thursday. Bulk and brush is a separate program. Curbside recycling is collected by the Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA).
